This is Selena’s favourite provisional cast-on.
To work it you need some smooth waste yarn, a crochet hook, and your yarn and needles.
Start with a slip knot on your hook.
wrap yarn around your needle and catch with the hook,
pull yarn through slip knot to make a loop on the needle
move yarn behind the needle and repeat the sequence until you have reached the necessary stitch count
Working with your knitting yarn, knit across the loops on the needle.
To free the stitches from the provisional cast-on, pick-up the loops that are visible on the reverse of your knitting, just underneath the crochet loops
undo the last stitch crocheted
and zip out the stitches
finish the stitches as desired.
Happy Knitting!
