February 2020, Love is in the Air

Vogue Knitting Live NYC 2020 was a huge success and a ton of fun! Thank you all for stopping by to say hello.

Me and my darling niece, Halle out and about before the VKL marketplace opened.

February is the last month that I really enjoy winter and the snow, so I’ll make the most of it this month by enjoying the outdoors a little bit by getting my cross country skiing on, and enjoying the indoors a lot by knitting by the fire with a cup of hot tea at my fingertips.

It’s the best time of year to enjoy all the cozy wool luxury fibers like extra fine merino, cashmere and alpaca.

The kit coming soon this month will be another stranded knitting object, a cowl this time designed by me called Norwegian Dreams Cowl.

Norwegian Dreams Cowl

Worked up with Wayfarer fingering, this extra fine merino/cashmere blend will have you loving every second of knitting time. It’s thick, cozy and gorgeous, with stranded designs inspired by traditional Norwegian patterns. Make sure you’re subscribed to receive your email about this fabulous kit release. I always release kits on sale for a limited time.

I have also listed individual skeins of Wayfarer fingering in the shop. Peruse through seventeen different colors of this gorgeous base to find the ones perfect for your future projects.

Wayfarer Fingering left to right: Gatlinburg marbled, NYC glazed, Tulum glazed, Portobello Road marbled, Chicago glazed
Wayfarer fingering left to right: Versailles glazed, Sundance glazed, Shoujiji Sakura marbled, Portobello Road glazed, Montmartre glazed

The second yarn going up in the shop this month will be nine colors of the Snow City Yarn SOCK. We’re talking a fabulous blend of fine merino superwash and Peruvian baby alpaca here! My daughter, Megan, lives in Salt Lake City and she dyes these stunning skeins using (drum roll) Landscape Dyes.

SOCK left to right: Blue Footed Booby, Macaw, Tanager, Motot, Nonnula

Megan uses a low immersion dye technique that she finishes off with a dash of speckles.

SOCK left to right: Flamingo, Cock-o-the-Rock, Thornbill, Flycatcher

Snow City Yarns Sock (60% Extra Fine Superwash Merino/20% Baby Alpaca/20% Nylon) fingering weight, 100g skein.

I’m currently working on a cardigan patterned after one of the mini sweaters from last August. I’m holding Snow City Yarns Sock and Halo together and it is HEAVEN!

What cozy fibers are you working with this month? Leave a comment and let me know.

Have fun and keep knitting, my friend! Selena
